Taylor Vaden is set to release his cover of “Go Tell It on the Mountain” on Friday, November 27, just in time for the Christmas season! This will be Vaden’s first Christmas song to ever be released across digital music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Google Play and more.
Originally compiled by John Wesley Work Jr. in the late 1800’s, Taylor’s version of the historical African American spiritual song and popular Christmas carol is an upbeat blend of blues and country that is sure to get every listener in the holiday spirit. The track features a well-rounded mix of blues rock guitar solos, Mississippi Delta slide licks, tasteful piano rolls, smooth organ fills and thumping bass lines. You will also hear some vocal nods to a few of Taylor’s favorite singers including Vince Gill, James Brown and of course, Elvis Presley.
“With the crazy year we’ve had, I wanted to give people something fun to listen to this Christmas,” says Vaden. “We had planned on a full-length Christmas album for 2020, but due to COVID-19 we were unable to get in enough studio time to pull it together. My producer, Keith Shimfessel, and I decided to record my cover of ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ instead and hopefully, put the album on the board for next year.” Shimfessel shared, “It was great working with Taylor in my studio again. Once I heard his idea about the song, the instrumentation and production ideas started coming faster than I could write them down. I really believe his version of ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ is going to bless a lot of hearts during this Christmas season!”
“Go Tell It on the Mountain” was produced and mastered by Shimfessel at The Bonus Room Studio in Kernersville, NC. Musicians featured on the track are Chris Kiger on bass, Hans Schlabach on electric and slide guitars, Seth Walker on electric and acoustic guitars, Taylor Vaden on acoustic guitar and Keith Shimfessel on keys. This release follows the 2019 release of Taylor’s EP project, New Season, that can also be streamed on all digital music platforms.
